top 5 hikes

Stan's Notes

I have done a lot of hiking. Hiking is my happy place – surrounded by beauty and able to toodle and noodle!

My consumable essentials for hiking are pretty basic. Water, Salt, Carbs (maybe protein for longer hikes – jerky!). The binoculars are a must (that feels nerdy to say).

For me the perfect hike includes:

• Challenge – take me out of my comfort zone
• Happy Ending – a treat at the end. Waterfall, Vista, Glacier
• Water – stream, lake or ocean
• Temp – cool and crisp
• Variety – variety of ecosystems.
• Color – foliage, flowers, rocks.
• Terrain – Not overly rocky. Wanna look up!

When I finish the perfect hike I feel like I’ve accomplished something. My top five hikes to date include:

  1. Grinnell Glacier – Glacier National Park. Favorite hike at favorite national park!

2. Highline – Glacier National Park. Close #2. Stunning views along summit ridge.

3, Angel’s Landing – Zion NP. Kicked my butt but totally worth it!
4, Panorama Trail – Switzerland Alps. Passed right in front of Eiger mountain
5. Guadelupe Peak Trail – Guadelupe NP (throw TX a bone!). This one almost sent Vicky into hiking retirement 😊I took nice snooze at top…

What about you?  What makes up your perfect hike?  What are your favorite hikes?

toodling and noodling, stan
