I recently got trained for scuba.  The team at Grapevine Scuba – led by CB, Pam and son Brian are super cool and professional. They give a big chunk of their life teaching others how to enjoy the beauty of the deep – passing on knowledge that has been built over many years by previous underwater explorers.  Combined with great advances in technology (dive computers, buoyancy control, regulators, etc), folks like this give access to the deep to me and the next generation.  I didn’t even know but they also trained my daughter Mia back in 2016!  Grateful.

Mia and I did our first dive together with her husband Josiah in Cozumel.  Special father/daughter moment.  We did a drift dive which is like watching a beauty pageant unfold below as I effortlessly drift over.  It’s hard to describe the exhilaration, almost intoxication, of seeing such new beauty and cool creatures.  I’ll use “life density” to describe the uniqueness of the coral environment – more life diversity per square foot than anything terrestrial.

Scuba is an essential skill in my new profession as a beauty hunter. In my remaining years I hope God allows me to explore some of the most beautiful places in His creation. Many (most?) of them are under water. Hence scuba!!

I am drawn to the ocean. It’s like a whole other world – largely unexplored and full of exotic life and creatures. Some say we know more about our Milky Way galaxy than about the depths of the ocean.

Thank you God for the ocean.

Noodling and Toodling, Stan
